4. How difficult is UKChO?
UKChO is designed as the UK National Chemistry Olympiad selection exam, and is highly challenging.
-
The questions are broad and in-depth, often based on real-world chemical problems and original research from leading chemistry journals.
-
Students should have a solid foundation in AP or A-Level Chemistry, and be prepared to study topics beyond the standard curriculum.
5. How many rounds are in UKChO?
UKChO consists of three rounds:
-
Round One: Written exam testing chemical knowledge applied to real-world problems.
-
Round Two: The top 30 scorers from Round One participate in a training camp.
-
Round Three: Four students are selected to represent the UK at the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO).
Note: Due to nationality restrictions, Chinese students only participate in Round One, taking the same exam as UK students.
6. How should I prepare for UKChO?
-
UKChO covers AP and A-Level Chemistry topics, so students need a strong foundation in chemistry.
-
Preparation should include extended learning beyond the standard curriculum.
-
Practicing past UKChO papers is essential for understanding question style and improving problem-solving skills.
7. Can I participate if I miss the registration deadline?
Unfortunately, no. Once the registration deadline passes, we must process entries promptly, and late registrations cannot be accepted.

International schools in China can register through ASDAN China.
